So … Is Slough in Berkshire the new identity fraud Capital in the UK?
According to WebWire who have published a post quoting Experian statistics it would appear so. Apparently Slough recorded 25 identity fraud attempts for every 10,000 addresses in the Berkshire town.
These statistics suggest that Slough residents are four times more likely to be the victims of identity fraud than anywhere else in the UK, which show approximately seven fraud attempts per 10,000 addresses in any town accross the UK.
Addresses in London, Gravesend, Birmingham, Luton, Manchester and Leicester, were assessed to have been targeted at twice the national average rate.
The London statistics showed just 22 attempts for every 10,000 residential addresses. Who’d have thunk it?
There didn’t seem to be any outstanding statistics for Reading in Berkshire, which is surprising but also reassuring to those in the town who feel under threat because of the growing number of business parks in the vecinity, in turn bringing more affluent individuals to the area.
